Cartier’s Romane Pendulettes of the 1980s sit within the maison’s long tradition of creating elegant desk and travel clocks, often referred to collectively as pendulettes. These pieces combined the practicality of a Swiss-made alarm or eight-day movement with Cartier’s distinctive design language. The Romane models in particular were often finished in gold plate with enamel accents, featuring clean dials with Roman numerals that echoed the brand’s classical watch designs of the same period. Compact in size, they were intended for both the desk and the bedside, bringing a sense of Cartier refinement into everyday living spaces.

The inclusion of the Romane line within Cartier’s pendulette production shows how the house adapted its early 20th-century tradition of lavish stone and enamel clocks to the tastes of the late 20th century. While earlier Cartier pendulettes often used jade, onyx, and rock crystal, the 1980s Romane examples favoured sleek metal cases and lacquer finishes, more in keeping with contemporary interiors. Today, surviving Romane pendulettes with their original presentation boxes and papers are prized both for their quality and for the way they represent Cartier’s enduring ability to fuse horology with decorative art.

This was one of the most exclusive options available in the Day-Date catalogue of the period, produced to Rolex’s in-house standards by specialist dial makers. On such diamond dials, the familiar sigma symbols found on many 1970s examples were often omitted, despite the settings still being manufactured in gold.

This rare Jumbo example measures 38 × 26 mm and features an unusual layout: subsidiary seconds at 3 o’clock and a date aperture at 6. NEW IN STOCK 🟢 This 1974 Heuer Carrera Cal. 12 NEW IN STOCK 🟢 This 1974 Heuer Carrera Cal. 12 comes from an era when racing and timekeeping were inseparable. Heuer wasn’t just a sponsor — their chronographs were on the wrists of drivers and in the timing stands at Le Mans.

The Calibre 12 automatic movement marked a shift in watchmaking, just as racing was entering a new chapter in the ‘70s. With close ties to Ferrari and a presence at circuits across Europe, Heuer helped define the look and function of motorsport watches.

This piece still does what it was made to do: keep time when it matters.
