1970’s International Watch Company (IWC) Schaffhausen – Pellaton Automatic
£1,350.00
includes our 24 month warranty
This elegant 1970s IWC automatic is presented in a gold-plated case that has been exceptionally well preserved, exhibiting only minimal signs of wear. The sharp lines of the case remain well defined, while the beautifully aged dial has developed an attractive, even patina that gives the watch a unique character impossible to replicate. Completing the presentation is its original gold-coloured IWC signed presentation box, a fitting accompaniment to this classic dress watch.
Powering this timepiece is the celebrated IWC Calibre 8541B, introduced in the late 1960s as the culmination of IWC’s renowned 85x family of automatic movements. Featuring the ingenious Pellaton winding system, the movement delivers highly efficient winding in both directions of rotor travel. Running at 19,800 vibrations per hour and fitted with 21 jewels, the Calibre 8541B earned an enduring reputation for reliability, precision and ease of servicing, remaining one of IWC’s most respected in-house automatic movements.
During the 1970s, IWC continued to build its reputation on understated engineering excellence rather than changing fashions. Watches such as this exemplify that philosophy, combining restrained styling with exceptional mechanical quality. The warm gold-plated case, richly patinated dial and technically accomplished in-house movement make this a particularly appealing example, offering both vintage charm and the dependable performance for which IWC has long been admired.
