The 2011 Rolex Submariner Date reference 116613LB, affectionately known by collectors as the “Bluesy”, marked a significant evolution of Rolex’s iconic dive watch. Introduced in 2009 as the successor to the aluminium-bezel 16613LB, this reference combined robust Oystersteel with 18ct yellow gold in Rolex’s signature Rolesor construction, while introducing a scratch-resistant blue Cerachrom ceramic bezel. Its striking blue dial, matching ceramic bezel and luxurious two-tone finish have made this one of the most recognisable and enduring Submariner references. Early examples such as this 2011 watch feature the desirable flat blue lacquer dial, produced before Rolex transitioned to the later sunburst finish.
Housed within this 40mm Oyster case is Rolex’s in-house Calibre 3135 automatic movement, celebrated for its exceptional durability, precision and ease of servicing.
