The Cartier Tank Solo reference 2716 occupies a clear line of descent from the original Tank that Louis Cartier presented to General John Pershing in 1917, a design whose parallel “brancards” echoed First World War Renault FT-17 tracks. By 2004 Cartier sought to make that century-old blueprint more attainable, launching the Tank Solo with steel cases and quartz calibres in place of precious-metal, hand-wound predecessors. Reference 2716 is the small model in that series, its polished stainless-steel case measuring 24 × 31 mm with the strap seamlessly recessed between straight brancards—faithful to the Tank’s long-standing geometric elegance.
