Tag Heuer Monaco Chronograph – CW2113-0

£3,950.00

includes our 24 month warranty

The CW2113-0 TAG Heuer Monaco is a reissue of one of the most iconic chronographs in wristwatch history, originally introduced in 1969. The Monaco line is best known for its square case—unconventional then and still distinctive today—and its association with motorsport legend Steve McQueen, who wore a Monaco in the 1971 film Le Mans. The CW2113-0, released in the early 2000s, preserves many of the original’s design cues: a 38mm square stainless steel case, a sunburst blue dial with red accents, and dual square sub-dials at 3 and 9 o’clock. The dial is protected by a slightly domed sapphire crystal, and the crown remains positioned on the left side of the case—a nod to the original’s automatic movement configuration.

While visually faithful to its vintage predecessor, the CW2113-0 differs mechanically. Instead of the Calibre 11—the original Monaco’s groundbreaking automatic chronograph movement developed in partnership with Heuer, Breitling, and Hamilton-Büren—this version houses the Calibre 17, a modular chronograph based on the ETA 2894-2. This movement offers reliable performance with a 42-hour power reserve and a 28,800 vph beat rate, though it lacks the reversed crown-pusher layout of the 1969 model. The use of a modular chronograph allows TAG Heuer to retain the square case shape while accommodating contemporary manufacturing efficiencies.

Among collectors, the CW2113-0 occupies a unique niche: it’s not a rare vintage piece, nor is it among the ultra-modern Monacos with in-house calibres, but it offers a well-executed and visually accurate tribute to a horological milestone. For enthusiasts of TAG Heuer’s heritage, this reference serves as a bridge between past and present—combining classic design with modern materials and build quality. It holds particular interest for those drawn to the cultural legacy of the Monaco, embodying both its motorsport associations and its place in the history of automatic chronographs.

SOLD 🔴 1975 Rolex Day Date Reference 1803 - The SOLD 🔴 1975 Rolex Day Date Reference 1803 - The dial of this watch is a factory gem-set configuration, featuring baguette-cut diamonds at six and nine o’clock and brilliant-cut stones at the remaining markers. This was one of the most exclusive options available in the Day-Date catalogue of the period, produced to Rolex’s in-house standards by specialist dial makers. On such diamond dials, the familiar sigma symbols found on many 1970s examples were often omitted, despite the settings still being manufactured in gold.
