Unlike the original square-shaped Santos, the Vendôme variation features a round case with the signature Cartier design elements, including Roman numerals, a cabochon crown, and visible screws on the bezel. This model emerged as part of Cartier’s expansion in the 1970s and 1980s, reflecting a shift towards more refined and dress-oriented wristwatches while maintaining the brand’s recognizable aesthetic.
The 33mm stainless steel version was designed as a versatile timepiece, with a balance between formal and casual wear. The watch typically came with an integrated bracelet, reflecting Cartier’s focus on seamless design. While the Santos Vendôme was available in different materials, the stainless steel model provided a more understated alternative to gold or two-tone versions.
